A memory foam topper is rather dense and firm when the temperature is cold. Whether or not this is a problem depends on the actual specifications of your foam topper and the temperature of your bedroom – if your bedroom is cooler than the memory foam’s specified stable temperature range, it will be uncomfortably firm. Obviously, a simple fix for this unwanted firmness is to turn on the heater in your bedroom early (in winter).
That said, I’m aware that some people do not like to use heaters in their bedrooms. After all, I’m guilty of the opposite – I don’t like to use the air conditioner.
So what can you do to warm up your memory foam mattress topper before bedtime? There are two simple solutions:
1. If you have a reliable electric blanket, you can use your electric blanket with your memory foam topper.
2. Another alternative is to warm up your memory foam topper with a hot water bottle. Obviously, you need to make sure the temperature is not too high. Wrap up the hot water bottle with a blanket to regulate the heat to somewhere around body temperature.
